Lake District Book of the Year, 2012

Wednesday 11th July 2012 |

Jack's Yak by Keith Richardson (pub. River Greta Writer) was one of two joint winners at today's award lunch in Kendal. Hunter Davies, Fiona Armstrong and Eric Robson were the three judges. The book is a collection of stories based on notable trees in Cumbria. Jack's Yak is one such tree in Lowther Park, Jack being one of the Lowther family and Yak being Cumbrian dialect for oak. The book is extensively illustrated by my photographs. This success follows on from last year's entry, Joss, a biography of the renowned fell runner, which narrowly missed the prize. Coming up in October is another collaboration with Keith simply called The River Greta.
